Awesome New Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4 Squared Revealed With Portal Axles

Today is a happy day for Mercedes, who has revealed the new G Class 4×4 squared on its G-specific website, “Private Lounge”. The previous-generation 4×4 Squared was designed around the G550. However, the new model uses a cooler Mercedes-AMG G63 base. And, most importantly, it still has those sweet portal axles.

The new 4×4 squared’s chassis configuration is different than the last-gen model, due to the G-Class’s revised suspension setup. Like the previous 4×4 Squared the new one has portal axles at all four corners, but it also retains the standard G63’s independent front suspension. The old G-Class had one axle at the front. Mercedes claims that the new 4x4squared has 13.8 inch of ground clearance. This is an improvement of 4.3 inches over standard G63 but is still 3.4 inches lower than the G5504x4squared. The new model can also withstand 35.8 inches of water, 9.4 inch more than the G63, but 3.6 inches less that the old Squared. Mercedes says it can climb grades of up to 45 degrees, too. Like the regular G63, AMG’s twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter is used in the 4×4 Squared. However, power has been increased to 585 horsepower from 577 horsepower.

Despite being slightly less capable than the old G-Class, the new 4×4 Quad should still be the most versatile G-Class. This is due to the greatly improved chassis. The old G-Wagen was very primitive in terms suspension and axles. The 4×4 squared was much more comfortable to drive on-road.

The G63 4×4 looks great in styling. It has wider fender flares made of carbon fiber and a lower bumper below the G’s standard bumper. The roof is carbon and features a pair integrated LED light bars at the front. Unlike the previous-gen 4×4 Squared, the new model retains the G’s rear-mounted spare tire, but it gets a cool carbon-fiber carrier that leaves the tire exposed. The 22-inch wheels have a new design, and Mercedes offers an optional roof rack and rear ladder.

The extensive customization options offered by Mercedes’ G Manufaktur will increase the 4×4 Squared’s visual impact. GAME BOAT There are at least 40 different colors available, including this amazing Green Hell Magno that you see here. The 4×4 Squared can also be customized with Mercedes’ G Manufaktur program. Real wood flooring can also be installed in the cargo area. The G has a digital rearview mirror that should improve its poor visibility. Additionally, there are more ambient lighting elements.

Mercedes has not yet revealed how much the G63 4×4 Squared model will cost or how many will it be made. The last 4×4 Squared wasn’t limited in number, instead only being offered for about a year, and the new model is likely to be the same. The G63 4×4 Squared should be available in the US if it goes on sale — considering the success of the original model here — and will likely cost at least $250,000.

More details about the 4×4 Squared will be revealed later in the year. However, Mercedes describes it as the last of its kind and is intended for collectors and enthusiasts. The V8 Mercedes engine isn’t going to last long. Therefore, the Squared will be the last G-Class model with an internal combustion engine. As a last swan song before fully electric EQG arrives in 2024, a plug-in hybrid with 800 horsepower is rumored.
